Starting out as a “hole in the wall” cafe in Wollongong, it wasn’t long before other cafe owners started to ask about selling SwEll Coffee’s organic blend in their own cafes. Thirteen years after opening their business, SwEll Coffee is now an established wholesale supplier along the South Coast of NSW.

The challenge

Although customers enjoy SwEll Coffee’s blend from a table at their local cafe, behind the scenes at the SwEll Coffee warehouse is where the magic happens. Operating within a commercial complex, their team has been fortunate to be surrounded by friendly businesses that have established a culture of sharing and supporting each other over time. For many years, SwEll Coffee has relied on their neighbours’ reach truck to transport heavy inventory in and around their warehouse. Unfortunately, the old reach truck had become increasingly unreliable over time, and breakdowns were beginning to slow down their operations.

SwEll Coffee's requirements

Russell recognised it was time to purchase his own reliable machine to keep his team productive and efficient. Upon assessing the clients’ needs, one thing was certain. The machine needed to not only perfectly suit the requirements of the SwEll Coffee warehouse – but also the requirements of his neighbours.

Our approach

Our team conducted a thorough assessment of their current warehouse space, taking into consideration his maximum lift height and capacity. In this special case, we also measured the lift height of the neighbours mezzanine to ensure the forklift would suit both spaces. The site survey also brought to light their flat surface, 10amp single-phase power and tight interior environment.

We used these findings in combination with thorough discussion with Russell to recommend the Walkie Reach Forklift with a 5.2m lift. It was the only machine that would enable their team to navigate in and out of confined spaces without requiring a forklift license to operate. This meant their team could quickly continue their operations and the forklift could be used by multiple employees with varying levels of operating experience.

The result

Russell was incredibly impressed with the modern features offered by the Walkie Reach, including the Moonwalk feature, which allows for better visibility and requires less space when working in narrow aisles.

Our team delivered their new Walkie Reach to the site within 4 weeks of the sale. Russell and his neighbour were blown away with the speed of delivery and how perfectly the machines features matches their unique workplace requirements.
